Description
Cymatoderma is unique for its intricate, fan-shaped fruiting bodies that often resemble cascading ruffles or coral. Found mainly in tropical regions, cymatoderma thrives on decaying wood, helping recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem. Some species within this group exhibit striking colors, ranging from browns and yellows to striking violets, adding a vibrant touch to forest floors. They play an essential role in decomposing dead organic material, making them vital contributors to forest health.
