Description

Circinaria is a lichen group known for thriving in some of the most extreme environments on Earth, including deserts and high mountains. These lichens often appear as crusts on rocks or soil and can survive with very little water. By forming symbiotic relationships with photosynthetic partners like algae, circinaria can endure harsh conditions and contribute to the ecosystem by preventing erosion and providing habitats for tiny organisms.
