Description

Chrysothricaceae is a family of lichenized fungi that grow together with communities of algae or bacteria as lichens. These lichens grow on trees, rocks, and similar surfaces over a widespread area, but favor tropical conditions. Some lichens in this family are known as gold or sulfur dust lichens because of the bright gold or yellow color of their lichens.
