Description
Chrysomyxa is a group of rust fungi that primarily infects coniferous trees. These parasites form distinctive orange or yellow pustules on needles and cones. Some species have complex life cycles involving alternate hosts, such as rhododendrons. Chrysomyxa can cause significant damage to forest ecosystems, leading to needle loss and reduced tree growth in severe infections.
