Description

Candelariales is a group of lichens often found in brightly colored, yellow to orange patches on rocks, soil, and trees. These lichens are notable for surviving in extreme environments, including high altitudes and arid deserts. Some species within this group produce unique chemical compounds that help them withstand harsh conditions and deter herbivores. Candelariales plays an important role in ecosystems by breaking down minerals and contributing to soil formation.
