Description
Byssocorticium are wood-decaying fungi found in temperate regions. They form thin, white to pale-colored crusts on the underside of fallen logs and branches. These fungi play a crucial role in decomposing dead wood, contributing to nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems. Some species in this group have a distinctive cottony or velvety texture, which is reflected in their name.
