Description

Bondarzewia are fascinating fungi known for their large and often fan-shaped fruiting bodies. They typically grow at the base of trees or on decaying wood. Characterized by their thick, fleshy texture, bondarzewia fungi have a porous underside that releases spores. They are particularly noted for their role in decomposing wood, contributing to forest nutrient cycling. Some species within this group are also known to form mutualistic relationships with certain tree species.
