Description
Amylostereum is a fascinating group of wood-decay fungi known for forming symbiotic relationships with wood-boring insects. These insects help spread the fungi by carrying its spores, enabling amylostereum to colonize new wood. Some species within this group can cause significant damage to trees and timber. Typically found in forested regions, amylostereum plays an important role in ecosystems by breaking down dead wood and recycling nutrients back into the soil.
