Description

Microbotryum er en gruppe planteparasittiske sopper som primært infiserer blomstrende planter. De er kjent for å forårsake «anthersot»-sykdom, hvor de erstatter vertplantens pollen med sine egne mørke sporer. Denne kløktige strategien gjør det mulig for microbotryum å spre seg via pollinatorer. Noen arter kan til og med endre kjønn på vertplantene sine, slik at blomsterutviklingen tilpasses for å styrke deres egen reproduksjon.
