Description

Metarhizium er en gruppe sopp som er mye brukt i biologisk skadedyrkontroll. Disse soppene infiserer og dreper ulike insektarter, noe som gjør dem verdifulle for landbruket. De produserer sporer som festes til og trenger inn i insektkroppene, vokser inni og forårsaker til slutt død. Noen arter av metarhizium kan også danne symbiotiske forhold med planterøtter, noe som forbedrer planteveksten og beskytter mot skadedyr.
