Description

Ascocorticium er en gruppe sopp kjent for å danne tynne, skorpe-lignende strukturer på trær. Ofte funnet i tempererte skoger, vokser disse soppene vanligvis på barken til bartrær. Deres sporeproduserende strukturer er som regel innebygd i den skorpete overflaten, noe som gjør dem mindre iøynefallende. Ascocorticium spiller en viktig rolle i økosystemet ved å bryte ned dødt trevirke, og bidrar dermed til næringssyklusen i skogshabitater.
