Fruiting Body
Fruiting body medium sized to large; the ghost fungus is a bioluminescent mushroom.
Cap
Cap 5-30 cm across, funnel-shaped or fan-shaped; cream though often tinted with orange, brownish, greyish, purple or even bluish-black shades; surface smooth. Flesh thin, creamy white, but have reddish tones near the base of the stipe. Odour and taste not distinctive.
Gills
Gills decurrent, cream-white, close or nearly crowded.
