Fruiting body small to medium sized, 3-6 cm wide, 3-10 cm high; whitish to pale brownish, with age it becomes browner.
Flesh
Flesh spongy, white. Odour and taste not distinctive.
Stem
Stem 3-10 cm long, 1.5-6 cm thick, inverted, spongy cone, often distorted; initially white, but turns yellow, olive, or brownish in age; surface with short cone-shaped spines.
