Description

Staurothele er en gruppe af skorpeformede laver, der ofte findes på sten og beton. De danner mørke, cirkulære eller irregulære pletter på overflader. Mange arter i denne gruppe har en unik egenskab ved at producere sporer i perithecier, som er kolbeformede strukturer indlejret i laverens thallus. Nogle staurothele arter kan tåle at være nedsænket i vand i længere perioder.
