Description

Placidium er en lavslægt, der findes i tørre og halvørkenområder verden over. Den vokser på jord og danner små, brunlig-grå skæl, der kan smelte sammen til et skorpe-lignende dække. Nogle arter har små porer på deres overflade til gasudveksling. Placidium spiller en afgørende rolle i at stabilisere jorden og forhindre erosion i ørkenøkosystemer.
