Description

Phellopilus er en gruppe svampe kendt for deres unikke forhold til træ, ofte fundet på rådne træstammer og stubbe. De spiller en kritisk rolle i nedbrydningen af træ, og recirkulerer næringsstoffer tilbage i økosystemet. Nogle arter inden for denne gruppe kendetegnes ved deres hårde, træagtige frugtlegemer, som kan holde i årevis. Tilpasset til forskellige klimaer, kan phellopilus findes i forskelligartede skovområder over hele verden.
