Description

Ophiostoma er mikroskopiske svampe kendt for at forårsage blåsplint i træ. De spredes ofte af barkbiller og danner et symbiotisk forhold. Nogle arter kan forårsage alvorlige træsygdomme. Ophiostoma har unikke sporeproducerende strukturer, der ligner lange halse, hvilket hjælper dem med effektivt at sprede sporer. Deres evne til at trives i iltfattige miljøer gør dem tilpasselige til forskellige træforhold.
