Description

Massalongia er en lavgruppe, der findes i kolde, bjergrige områder. Den danner små, mørkebrune rosetter på klipper og jord. Kendt for sin evne til at modstå barske alpine forhold, har massalongia en unik struktur med tykke, fingerlignende lapper. Nogle arter i denne gruppe er forbundet med kvælstoffikserende cyanobakterier, hvilket bidrager til næringsstofkredsløbet i ekstreme miljøer.
