Description

Akanthomyces er en gruppe svampe kendt for deres parasitære natur, der primært angriber insekter og andre leddyr. De producerer ofte lange, slanke strukturer kaldet synnemata, som bærer sporer. Nogle arter i denne gruppe kan dramatisk ændre adfærden hos deres insektværter, hvilket fører til det, der er kendt som "zombie myrer" fænomenet. Akanthomyces spiller en rolle i naturlig skadedyrskontrol i forskellige økosystemer.
