Conifer roundhead gets its name from its perfectly formed round head and the fact that it is usually found on rotting pine wood. It is noted for its beauty and is usually spotted throughout summer and autumn. Conifer roundhead has been reported as potentially toxic and should not be consumed. It has been mistaken for the less stocky S. Ambigua.
