As described by its name, the most recognizable feature of purple-bloom Russula is its purplish cap that is covered by a white bloom of dust. The stem of this mushroom is also flushed with the same purple color as its cap. Purple-bloom Russula is most commonly found under hardwoods, especially oak trees.
