Northern tooth(Climacodon septentrionalis) is characterized by the spiny, almost toothlike structures on the undersides of its caps, which are not readily perceived from a distance. It is a parasitic fungus that causes heart rot in various species of tree, eventually culminating in the host's demise. This species is not considered edible.
