Atheniella aurantiidisca is a tiny mushroom that doesn't grow more than 5 cm tall. When still young, this striking mushroom has a bright orange cap that eventually fades to yellow and off-white. The species has numerous look-alikes, including Atheniella adonis, Mycena acicula, and Mycena strobilinoides and only experienced mushroom hunters can spot the difference.
