Fruiting body medium sized; semicircular, irregularly bracket-shaped, or kidney-shaped.

Cap
Cap 5-15 cm across, semicircular, irregular elbow or kidney; burnt amber around the edge, darken to an almost black color closer to the mushroom's connection to the tree or log; surface rugged, velvety. Flesh tough, bright yellowish brown to orange-brown. Odour and taste not distinctive.

Pores
Pores dark purplish brown to brown or reddish brown, 6-8 pores per mm.
